How many games were supposed to be played in the 1901 AL season?
[edit]It says that Boston was eliminated from pennant contention on Saturday 9/21/1901 when they lost to the Tigers. They went into that game 9 games back in the W column. They had played 127 games to that point. How many games were left on the schedule?
It looks like the AL ended some games as ties for whatever reason, and counted them as losses for both teams, which is ridiculous. They should be finished until there is a winner, even if it must be continued on another day.
So since they lost to the Tigers that day, they were still 9 games back since the Sox lost that day, and now played 128 games, 130 counting 2 ties. If it were a 138-game schedule, then it makes sense that that game eliminated them, albeit with the 2 ties counting as losses. But the Brewers played 139 games that season, so it doesn't make any sense. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.73.132.54 (talk) 18:29, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
